Strawberry, sambac jasmine and vanilla

The house describes Ruby as a floral amber, fruity and gourmand scent. In the top, a strawberry accord it wants juicy and fleshy, of an intense red; in the heart, a radiant sambac jasmine absolute; in the base, an infusion of Madagascar Bourbon vanilla, warm and enveloping.

The strawberry is given as an accord, the jasmine in absolute form, the vanilla as an infusion. No other material is named, and the published composition comes down to three notes, one per tier, from a red fruit to a white flower and a vanilla.

The line’s constants

Ruby stays true to the two pillars of the original Donna. Bourbon vanilla, set in the base in 2019, returns in almost every edition, from Green Stravaganza to Purple Melancholia; jasmine, the heart of the original Donna, recurs in Intense, Green Stravaganza and Extradose.

Fruits have opened several editions: the blackcurrant of the original and of Extradose, the plum of Purple Melancholia. Ruby chooses a red fruit, strawberry, like the Uomo of the same edition, which opens on raspberry.

What the label declares

The ingredient list published for the American market is in line with the announced notes: vanillin comes fifth, just after the synthetic ambery woods. It also names bergamot oil, a rose extract, coumarin and santalol, the odorous principle of sandalwood.

Jasmine does not appear by name, nor does strawberry, which is an accord. A colorant (CI 60730), a UV filter and an antioxidant complete the list.
