Tuscan Leather is the eau de parfum Tom Ford added in 2007 to his Private Blend collection, a version the house intends as an original take on the classic leather fragrance. Saffron, raspberry and thyme open the composition; olibanum and night jasmine form its heart; leather, black suede and an amber wood hold its base.
The house divides Tuscan Leather into three tiers: saffron, raspberry and thyme at the top, olibanum and night jasmine at the heart, leather, black suede and amber wood in the base. Osmoz gives the same distribution.
Saffron, raspberry and thyme
Saffron, raspberry and thyme open the composition. The Candy Perfume Boy finds the raspberry neither sugary nor jammy, but dry and dusty like dried fruit, sliding toward milky red berries.
Olibanum and night jasmine
Olibanum and night jasmine form the heart. Victoria, on Bois de Jasmin, detects herbal notes and a sheer floral, hedione, that lighten the whole; incense and balsams soften its dryness.
Leather, suede and amber wood
Leather, black suede and an amber wood make up the base. Victoria sees a modern leather, with an animalic facet that is dry rather than sweet, set on a transparent, woody amber, far from the classic vanilla and labdanum base.
The Candy Perfume Boy, for his part, describes a soft, almost fleshy leather with no animalic edge, somewhere between a new car interior and a briefcase, softened in the base by an amber with vanilla and benzoin.
