Fucking Fabulous

Tom Ford unveiled Fucking Fabulous in September 2017, sending it out with the invitations to his spring-summer 2018 show, held on September 6 at the Park Avenue Armory in New York. The fragrance, an eau de parfum from the Private Blend collection, reached the brand’s boutiques and website the next day.

A name

According to Porter magazine and John Demsey, then one of the executives of the Estée Lauder group, which owns the brand, the name comes from Tom Ford’s reaction when he first smelled the fragrance: he found it, in two words, fabulous, expletive included.

A launch that got noticed

The name drew reactions from retailers. Fashion Magazine reported that a British airport crossed out the first word on the bottles, and that a Neiman Marcus store in Houston kept its bottle behind the counter, under a sticker.

From limited edition to collection

Announced as a limited edition, the fragrance sold out in a single day, according to the Fragrance Foundation, which calls it the biggest launch in Private Blend history. It stayed in the catalog, and the house has extended it into a parfum, a body spray and a candle.
