Eau de Grey Vetiver

Three tiers can be read in the fragrance: Primofiore lemon, grapefruit, green bergamot and fennel in the top; iris, mugwort, orange blossom and Provence clary sage in the heart; vetiver, amber woods, oakmoss and musk in the base.

From citrus to vetiver

Primofiore lemon opens the fragrance with an aldehydic sparkle that evokes a fruit freshly picked in an Italian grove. Green bergamot brings a tonic vivacity, grapefruit its brightness, and fennel an aromatic sharpness.

At the center, iris, rich and velvety, intertwines with mugwort. Provence clary sage lends an earthy greenness, and orange blossom a soft, green floral note, for a whole that is both classic and modern.

The base rests on vetiver, as essential oil and as extract, accompanied by amber woods and an oakmoss dimension. A clean musk accord rounds it all out. The house places Eau de Grey Vetiver among the woody, citrusy fragrances.

What the label declares

Alcohol denat., water and fragrance open the list, before dipropylene glycol, a solvent, limonene and acetyl cedrene, a woody material. Tetramethyl acetyloctahydronaphthalenes, an ambery wood, comes before lemon peel oil, linalool and Juniperus virginiana oil, which is Virginia cedar.

Linalyl acetate, pinene, alpha-isomethyl ionone and citral come before lemongrass oil, terpinolene and eugenol. Clove bud oil, beta-caryophyllene and bitter orange peel oil appear further down, with geranyl acetate, geraniol, alpha-terpinene and terpineol.

Oakmoss extract, citronellol and farnesol come before eugenyl acetate, isoeugenol and carvone. Bitter orange flower oil, that is, orange blossom, comes before three UV filters: ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane and ethylhexyl salicylate, which close the list.
