Somei Yoshino is a fragrance signed by Berdoues. It is a tribute to Japan woven with delicacy. Moreover, what better way to pay homage to this Asian country than by using cherry blossoms? A sacred tree in this country, it now serves as a raw material for the house of Berdoues in crafting a fragrance of high standing. Somei Yoshino is conceived with extreme refinement. It is a concentrate of tenderness and serenity emanating from the Collection des Grands Crus by Berdoues.

Berdoues and its fragrances as noble as Grands Crus

Since 1902, the house of Berdoues has crafted fragrances in the purest respect of French haute perfumery tradition. Moreover, it stands as a pioneer in the creation of Colognes. In this sense, it can boast of having significantly shaped our olfactory heritage. Also, as if to reclaim its noble standing once more, it decided to launch a collection named Collection Grands Crus. Now, not just any wine is named Grand Cru… Well, know that the same holds true for fragrances. These are therefore all made from the finest raw materials in the world. These are then harvested and treated with the greatest care before being placed in the hands of the best perfumers. Thus, the Collection des Grands Crus does not bring together ordinary fragrances. Somei Yoshino is an exceptional juice of undeniable refinement. Its name translates from Japanese and means “Yoshino cherry tree”, a place where famous varieties of cherry trees grow, trees whose blossoms are celebrated every spring.

The delicacy of Somei Yoshino

Cherry blossoms have small, light and fragile corollas. This is exactly the tenderness found in the fragrance Somei Yoshino. It evokes the Japanese terroir with a single breath. It invites contemplation and relaxation. Angélique Leporini, the perfumer in charge of creating this fragrance, explains that she created it wanting to express this unique spectacle offered each year by the blooming of Japan’s cherry blossoms. Then, she says, she let herself be lulled by this dance, at once wild and harmonious, of the flowers taking flight and redrawing the Japanese landscape for the length of a season. Moreover, Somei Yoshino contains Japanese Shiso, a highly prestigious and strongly scented violet plant. Here it reveals fresh, woody and spicy nuances. Indonesian patchouli, for its part, displays more power and complexity. It is also woody but more camphorous. Finally, Indian sambac jasmine completes the whole with its warm, opulent, sweet and slightly fruity note. Naturally, the whole is housed in a case of pervasive delicacy. It takes the form of a long glass rectangle upon which blooming cherry trees are drawn. Moreover, the shape of this packaging is common to all the fragrances in this collection. What is more, the label affixed to its front is strongly inspired by those found on French wines.
