The Eaux de Politesse, when Serge Lutens bets on purity

While Serge Lutens's fragrances are all very different from one another, it must be acknowledged that they are often bold and powerful. Serge Lutens is known for opulent fragrances, saturated with spices and balsams, as the famous Ambre Sultan for example attests. Yet this time, the creator seems to have taken an entirely new path. The Eaux de Politesse collection brings together very airy and transparent juices. With them, everything is a matter of lightness. It all began in 2010, when Serge Lutens uttered this phrase: Luxury begins with cleanliness. This is how the Eaux de Politesse came into being. These unisex fragrances, intended for men and women alike, highlight the nobility of perfumery's finest raw materials, while enhancing them with other ingredients placed in the background. All of Serge Lutens's Eaux de Politesse share the same bottle: a transparent glass cube with beveled edges, whose silhouette oddly recalls that of the world-famous Chanel No. 5. Its cap, meanwhile, is the same one used in Serge Lutens's previous Gratte-Ciel collection, in a translucent version evoking the purity of these new fragrances.

Santal Blanc, a hushed, milky breath, not without spice

Santal Blanc is a fragrance that is both different from Serge Lutens's usual universe, yet contains within itself all the complexity of the creator. As always, it comes with a somewhat enigmatic quote: Without stain and without reproach. A peppery crystal that stands its ground. One remembers it. The message is clear, and Santal Blanc appears as a pure, airy fragrance that gains in power and depth on contact with pink pepper. This, moreover, is not the only spice in its formula. Santal Blanc also contains cinnamon. The milky, creamy breath of sandalwood is also wrapped in a powdery, refined scent of iris wood, one of the most prestigious ingredients in the perfumer's entire palette. Musk, in turn, completes this fragrance, giving it a more animalic and thrilling sensuality.
