What the house declares

Guerlain distributes the materials across three tiers. The opening rests on rosewater and incense; the center on a Grasse rose absolute, a Bulgarian rose and a raspberry accord; the base on patchouli, a leather accord, a musk accord and a white amber.

A rose from end to end

The house insists: the rose runs from the opening to the base. It gathers three forms of it, an essence with a green nuance, an absolute with round accents and a rosewater distilled from petals through an upcycling process.

Incense and patchouli

Incense opens the composition and brings the smoke of the rite. Patchouli, which Guerlain calls dark and earthy, evokes the soil of the Persian garden where the rose is rooted; it gives the fragrance its footing.

The halo of musks

A duo of musks wraps the rose in a halo of light, in the words of the house. The leather accord and the white amber complete the base, which Guerlain ranks among the strong intensities of its collection.

What the label declares

The most recent list from the house names several natural materials. Rose flower oil or extract confirms the announced rose, Pogostemon cablin oil the patchouli, and rose ketones join the raspberry accord.

Pelargonium graveolens oil, geranium, doubles the rose with a green, minty accent; geraniol, geranyl acetate and citronellol, its familiar constituents, extend that facet.

Eugenol and beta-caryophyllene carry a spicy point, and tetramethyl acetyloctahydronaphthalenes settle the base with a dry woodiness. Butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane, for its part, is a sunscreen.

This list, coded #21951, replaces a shorter version coded #19745 that named no natural material. The house warns that its ingredient lists are updated regularly.
