Obsessed for Men, the men's fragrance from Calvin Klein. Some fragrances last only a season. Others, however, are still talked about decades after their release and are considered true symbols. As such, Obsession pour Homme is a fragrance that was born in 1986 and that considerably marked the history of Calvin Klein.
While Obsession pour Femme stirred women with its sulfurous oriental accords, Calvin Klein released just a year later, in 1986, Obsession For Men with its burning oriental and vanilla accords. An ode to sensuality, the beautiful bottle of the 1980s saw its brilliant successor appear in 2017: Obsessed For Men. A true juice with androgynous power, Obsessed For Men stands out just as much as its scented forebear Obsession once did.
Obsessed For Men, or the vanilla tribute to the man of Obsession For Men
Obsession and Obsession For Men were the first two fragrances offered by the famous house Calvin Klein, in 1985 and 1986 respectively. Whether for the women's or the men's fragrance, the brand-new perfume house managed to surprise its audience by offering passionate and carnal fragrances in which the orientality of the accords is burning and wrapped in passion. Yet Obsession For Men also managed to surprise with unexpected freshness and vanilla notes far more reserved for masculine perfumery than for feminine perfumery.
When the house Calvin Klein wished to recompose its two “Obsessions” in 2017, it chose to ask its perfumers to rework the original compositions by bringing them the modernity of the new century. Christophe Raynaud and Illias Ermenidis thus composed Obsessed For Men by drawing inspiration from this venerable and so seductive ancestor Obsession for its warm, vanilla notes, while bringing an unprecedented freshness and spark to the composition.
As a result, Obsessed For Men presents itself as a highly original fragrance that blends feminine and masculine assets to shake up the classics and stir our senses.
Blending memory and desire, the masculine and the feminine, the past and the present, these captivating fragrances echo Obsession, the original, while shaking up and reformulating the fragrances to suit the men and women of today, attributed to Calvin Klein for Obsessed For Men.
Between freshness, sweetness and sensuality, the man of Obsessed For Men by Calvin Klein
Beyond its extraordinary blending of genres, Christophe Raynaud and Illias Ermenidis chose a staggering level of sophistication in the selection of the raw materials that would compose Obsessed For Men. Labdanum, black vanilla and patchouli in Obsessed For Men are specially selected crops chosen to be as powerful as possible.
Obsessed For Men opens with a sharp, fresh start of Oro Blanco grapefruit and Sichuan pepper. Punctuated by a cardamom that colors these notes with a warm, spicy touch, these top notes are already as pleasant as they are contrasted between warmth and freshness. Yet the burning heart of this Obsessed proves that the choice of intense warmth was deliberate, intoxicating us with woody notes of cedar leaves paired with a wild labdanum and a blond leather as soft as it is delicately animalic. Finally, depths of patchouli and black vanilla infusion carry us into a flow of sensual warmth blending virility with a touch of gourmand femininity. Ambrox super, however, brings to this bold and contrasted pairing the strength of absolute virility.
