Pour Femme is Mauboussin’s first fragrance, launched in 2000 by the Parisian jeweler and composed by Christine Nagel. The house presents it as a fruity oriental: a top of golden plum, a heart of Indian jasmine, a base of ambergris and vanilla, in a bottle faceted like a diamond. Angela, of Now Smell This, sees in it a big fruity oriental for winter.

The house today gives a short pyramid: golden plum at the top, Indian jasmine at the center, ambergris and vanilla in the base.

The list from 2000

Angela, of Now Smell This, relays a fuller list, that of the launch: plum, bergamot, and mandarin, white peach, jasmine, ylang-ylang, and Turkish rose, amber, patchouli, sandalwood, benzoin, cedar, and vanilla. She smells in it fruits left to stew on a radiator, flowers turned to potpourri and sugar, and only the amber and vanilla seem fresh and vibrant to her.

What stays out

Mint, anise, jonquil, cade, and redcurrant appear neither with the house nor with the critics. The bergamot, mandarin, peach, rose, ylang-ylang, patchouli, sandalwood, benzoin, and cedar of 2000 remain in prose.

What the label declares

The ingredient list on the house’s page has twenty-five entries: alcohol, fragrance, and water, three sunscreen filters, an antioxidant, and the allergens to be declared, including coumarin, linalool, limonene, eugenol, and cinnamyl alcohol, with two colorants.
