Xplicit Poppy

Mancera builds Xplicit Poppy on three tiers: a Sauvignon accord and grapefruit in the top, poppy, osmanthus and patchouli in the heart, oud, vetiver and Peru balsam in the base. It places the fragrance in its floral family.

A morning poppy

The house imagines a poppy awakening in the crisp morning air, lit by the vibrant freshness of a Sauvignon accord, named after the white grape variety. It also evokes sparkling grape notes, and grapefruit accompanies the accord in this opening.

In the heart, the poppy gives the fragrance its name; osmanthus and patchouli surround it. Mancera says these materials, together with the oud of the final tier, gradually reveal a velvety, carnal facet, the one the Xplicit collection lays claim to.

A woody, balsamic base

The base brings together oud, vetiver and Peru balsam, which the house sums up as sensual woods. Peru balsam contributes a balsamic material, and vetiver extends the oud with its woody note.

What the label declares

Alcohol denat. and fragrance open the list, ahead of tetramethyl acetyloctahydronaphthalenes, an ambery wood, water and vanillin. Patchouli oil comes early, with citronellol, linalool, trimethylcyclopentenyl methylisopentenol, linalyl acetate and limonene.

Lemon peel and bitter orange peel oils, pinene and Peru balsam oil sit in the middle of the list, alongside Cananga odorata oil and rose geranium flower oil. Atlas cedar oil, farnesol and terpinolene close the list.
