L’Instant Magic, so that the dream becomes reality. Guerlain was founded in 1928 by Pierre-François-Pascal Guerlain. At first, this vinegar-maker-turned-perfumer sold sapoceti (whale-fat soap scented with natural essences), as well as eaux de toilette and skincare creams. Today, Guerlain is known worldwide. The house has established its style of elegance and luxury. Since its creation, Guerlain has imagined more than 300 perfumes.
Perfumery is not mere vanity. It is, in part, a share of dreams and enchantment to slip into everyday life, day after day. This is precisely the philosophy behind the perfume L'Instant Magic by Guerlain, created in 2017 by perfumer Randa Hammami. Floral, oriental and powdery, it relies above all on a concentration of white musks, of absolute purity. To this, it adds more floral notes, for a true surge of femininity and poetry. Symbolizing a fleeting yet unforgettable moment, L'Instant Magic proves almost dreamlike. It navigates the border between dream and reality. So what about its bottle? Let's take a closer look at how Guerlain managed to put all this emotion into images.
The first bottle of L’Instant Magic
First of all, let us note that the bottle of L’Instant Magic has evolved over time. Indeed, it is no longer presented today in its original bottle. Upon its launch, it was enhanced by a transparent case, resembling a true jewel. Simple yet refined, it relied on a completely translucent glass container, incorporating a very feminine pale pink hue. Its name, L’Instant Magic, appeared on the front, in a black script as elegant as it was discreet. The base of this bottle was halfway between the roundness of a cylinder and the sharper, cleaner look of a rectangle. Its base thus perfectly matched the shape of the hand, combining Guerlain's rigor with the natural tenderness of women. Fitted with a chromed sprayer, the original bottle of L’Instant Magic displayed a deep modernity, while being covered with a final cap forming a transparent rectangle.
The return of L’Instant Magic in Guerlain's Bee Bottle
Today, the original bottle of L’Instant Magic by Guerlain is no longer used. If one wishes to rediscover it, one is free to turn to collectors. Now, in stores, L’Instant Magic is presented in a modern reinterpretation of Guerlain's iconic Bee Bottle. As a reminder, this one was designed in 1853, for Empress Eugénie, wife of Napoleon III. Having greatly contributed to Guerlain's renown, the Bee Bottle returns to the forefront, while being slightly transformed. Enhanced with a dome, it is finely sculpted with numerous reliefs, most of which depict bees, a symbol of the Grand Empire and of the house of Guerlain. A black label bearing its name appears on the front. The whole is topped with a very refined golden sprayer, itself accented with a transparent glass sphere. To recall the first version of the L’Instant Magic bottle, this new container is enriched with an elegant pink hue. Femininity is absolute. This visual gives off a timeless charm. In reality, no one could assign an age to this perfume. However, it immediately demonstrates that it is a great classic of feminine perfumery.
L’Instant Magic by Guerlain is available in bottles of 30 or 100 ml.
