It is Jacques Cavallier whom the house of Lanvin chose to interpret “Lanvin L'Homme”. Jacques Cavallier was born in Grasse in 1962. Son and grandson of a perfumer, Jacques Cavallier was raised amid the scents of this city, entirely devoted to perfumery. After starting out at Charabot, Jacques Cavallier was hired by Quest (which became Givaudan) and joined Firmenich, the Swiss company, in 1990. Since 2012, Jacques Cavallier has been the house perfumer of Louis Vuitton. Jacques Cavallier states that he does not aim to create rare and exceptional fragrances, but simply fragrances that will please the greatest number of people. His compositions nevertheless prove otherwise. Jacques Cavallier is behind magnificent fragrances such as “Cinéma” by Yves Saint Laurent, “Ange ou Démon” by Givenchy and “Classique” by Jean-Paul Gaultier.
Lanvin L'Homme, notes of haute couture
“Lanvin L'Homme” was born from Dominique Morlotti's haute couture collections, and draws inspiration from that spirit. Here, Lanvin wanted to create a link between haute couture and perfumery. This is why cotton is rendered through lavender, raw linen through spices, and cashmere through sandalwood… The composition of “Lanvin L'Homme” is complex, as it opens with the citrus notes of lemon, neroli and bergamot. These are then joined by the aromatic tones of lavender, star of men's fragrances, but also by spicier tones such as cardamom, mint and pepper. The contrast is already present and leads into a predominantly floral heart thanks to the presence of jasmine and lily of the valley, paired with the aromatic side of clary sage. The base is sensual and musky, combining sandalwood, amber, musk and vanilla. Here, casualness is composed of highly refined touches that offer a striking contrast and unparalleled elegance.
While “Lanvin L'Homme” was born from the spirit of haute couture collections, its essence nonetheless represents a change for the house of Lanvin.
