Iris, at the heart of La Femme Prada
La Femme Prada is defined as a chic and ultra-elegant floral oriental. Daniela Andrier's composition opens with unprecedented and, to say the least, original notes, namely beeswax paired with spices. Its heart is at once highly floral, feminine, and luminous. It combines tuberose, ylang-ylang, frangipani flower, and iris, which envelops the heart in a rich, powdery quality. Iris is not only one of Miuccia Prada's favorite materials, alongside amber, but also one of the most expensive materials in niche perfumery. Iris is also known as the blue gold of perfumery, given how noble its use is. In reality, it is the rhizomes that are used to obtain iris absolute. The name iris comes from the Greek and means messenger of the gods. In France, the use of iris powder dates back to when Catherine de Medici introduced it at court for makeup purposes.
