Myrrh & Tonka

Oriental, Myrrh & Tonka expresses its family through a warm, balsamic accord in which myrrh and tonka bean bring out balsam, caramel and toasted almond. Composed for Jo Malone by perfumer Mathilde Bijaoui, the accord opens on a fresh lavender with camphoraceous accents, before a heart softened by powdery almond and by a vanilla that is at once sweet and spicy.

An aromatic opening

Lavender opens the composition with a floral freshness crossed by a touch of camphor. Distilled from its flowering tops, this aromatic plant yields an essence in which both the flower and an almost medicinal crispness can be perceived, lighting up the first moments of the accord.

Resin, bean and sweetness

Tonka bean brings toasted nuances in which almond and caramel can be traced. Myrrh, a gum resin harvested from a shrub, gives off a balsamic warmth tinged with sugar. Almond adds a powdery, gourmand sweetness, while vanilla pairs sugar with a spicy, warm touch.

An oriental character

Myrrh & Tonka owes its oriental classification to its warm materials: myrrh resin for the balsamic facet, tonka bean and vanilla for the sweet roundness. This family readily gathers balsams, resins and vanillic notes, and here the powdery almond extends this enveloping vein.
