Mathilde Bijaoui's unexpected path

It was at the age of 13 that Mathilde Bijaoui decided to become a perfumer. Indeed, she visited with her school the Osmothèque, or Conservatoire International des Parfums, in Versailles. This discovery was a true revelation. From that day on, she became aware that she wanted to become a perfumer. She then had only one single objective: to master this unique know-how that allows one to play with scents and reinterpret the fragrances offered by nature. She therefore trained to become a perfume creator. From then on, at the start of her career, she joined Mane, one of the most important composition houses in the fragrance and flavor industry. While working with Mane allowed Mathilde Bijaoui to connect with all kinds of major luxury houses, she prefers to work for rather revolutionary and unconventional companies. Thus, Mathilde Bijaoui likes to think outside the box. She has notably created fragrances for Jacomo, Penhaligon, Etat Libre d'Orange and for Tilda Swinton.

Mathilde Bijaoui's very distinctive tastes

Generally speaking, Mathilde Bijaoui likes to create fragrances with a strong personality. She finds inspiration everywhere she goes. She has said that she has created fragrances based on the rhythm of Brazilian bossa nova, the minimalist simplicity of contemporary dance, travels, notably to Madagascar, modern Art, the markets of southern France, the energy of New York, and more. Nevertheless, Mathilde Bijaoui very often enjoys incorporating spices into her fragrances. This has earned her the nickname Spice Girl in the perfumery world. Furthermore, Mathilde Bijaoui likes to extract unexpected scents from nature. Surrounded by a solid team of researchers, she strives to extract fragrances never used before. This is made possible in particular thanks to the Jungle Essence technology developed by the Mane team. For example, Mathilde Bijaoui enjoys introducing the scent of fig or caviar into her fragrances.
