Sylvaine Delacourte, perfumer and creative director of Guerlain fragrances, recounts in detail the work carried out by Thierry Wasser in composing the exceptional fragrances of the Les Déserts d'Orient collection. We thus discover that ambergris, the star of Encens Mythique d'Orient, does not come from a single source of raw material but rather from a multitude of categories of amber gathered in New Zealand. Is this the reason for the animalic beauty of this Encens Mythique d'Orient? Certainly.

Yet while Encens Mythique d'Orient aims to be mysterious, it nonetheless opens with very European notes of centifolia rose and aldehydes. A floral, elegant opening that then marries in the heart with absolute woody powers of vetiver and patchouli.
