Angel Eau de Toilette

A work in its own right

For José Amorim, writing on Luxury Activist in 2019, Angel’s Eau de Toilette was never a simple lighter version of the Eau de Parfum: in 2011 as in 2019, it brings out other aspects of the original perfume. He also admires the glass of the new star, standing upright, with no mold marks.

Comparing the two formulas, he finds that the 2019 one has gained in sensuality without losing its luminosity. He praises Louise Turner’s respect for heritage and a modernity achieved through contrasts that give the structure an edge.

Angel, softer

Lili, writing on Needs and Moods in March 2020, finds Angel’s identity with a softer, hazier side, without seeing it as an eau de toilette lacking character: to her, the fragrance remains very assertive.

She describes a playful mandarin and peony whose tartness offsets the gourmand side, a fleeting freshness that gives way to the praline and its cooked sugars, nuanced by a crunchy almond. Lying on a woody bed, the patchouli gives it, in her view, a hypnotic, ashy aura.

Tired of gourmand perfumes drowned in sugar, she judges that Angel remains a case apart, thanks to its praline and above all its woody base.
