Cool Elixir Safran Mineral

The house builds Safran Mineral on three materials: a saffron accord, a cedarwood trio and an apple accord. It presents the hand-harvested saffron as the red gold of spices, and credits it with power and depth.

Three materials

The cedarwood trio anchors the fragrance in woody warmth. The crisp apple brings a freshness the house calls unexpected, as a counterpoint to the saffron, and gives the whole its fruity note.

For the reviewer Eddie Bulliqi, the apple opens the fragrance and brings out the fruity facets of the saffron, which forms the heart. The base strikes him as woody and ambery, in keeping with the whole.

What the label declares

Denatured alcohol, fragrance and water open the list, ahead of propylene glycol, linalyl acetate and tetramethyl acetyloctahydronaphthalenes, an ambery wood. Limonene, lemon oil, vanillin, linalool and Juniperus virginiana oil, Virginia cedar, come right after.

Patchouli oil, bergamot, hydroxycitronellal, coumarin, lavender oil and geranium oil occupy the middle of the list. Spearmint oil, Atlas cedar oil, sclareol, anethole and menthol appear further down, with isoeugenol closing the list.
