Cristalle Eau Verte

“Cristalle Eau Verte” came into being in 2009, following the immense success of “Cristalle”, released in 1974. While “Cristalle Eau Verte” is just as elegant as its elder, it nonetheless aims to be much fresher and more green. At the time, it was Henri Robert who created the “Cristalle” fragrance, which resonated as an immediate success. Natural, spontaneous, yet ultra-luminous, the Chanel woman dazzles us here with a thousand lights. It is Jacques Polge who revisits Chanel's famous fragrance, bringing an echo of the life of Gabrielle Chanel, who adored the countryside and nature.

Jacques Polge was born in 1943 in the Vaucluse. After joining the Givaudan perfumery school, Jacques Polge was hired by the house of Chanel in 1978. He succeeded Henri Robert, taking on the heavy task of modernizing the Chanel brand while preserving its original soul. Bold, he indeed developed new and timeless fragrances. Remaining deeply attached to Gabrielle Chanel, Jacques Polge went on to create fragrances resembling Mademoiselle's tastes or personality, such as “Coco”. Today, Jacques Polge has retired after a fulfilling career, and it is none other than his son, Olivier Polge, who has taken over the succession of Chanel perfumes. We owe to Jacques Polge magnificent fragrances such as “N°19 Poudré, Egoïste” or “Chance”.

Cristalle Eau Verte, delicate and airy notes

“Cristalle Eau Verte” is defined as a green floral and fresh fragrance. The composition takes flight on the freshness of bergamot and lemon. Originating from Persia, bergamot is mainly cultivated in Italy, in the province of Reggio Calabria. While bergamot has the spherical shape of an orange, it has the color of a lemon. It should nonetheless be noted that bergamot is not a citrus fruit that is eaten. It is used solely for its essential oil, highly prized in cosmetics as well as in perfumery. Bergamot essence is obtained by cold expression of the fruit's peel. It releases fresh, zesty and slightly bitter tonalities. Then, the heart of “Cristalle Eau Verte” is ultra-feminine, composed of neroli and magnolia. Originating from Japan, magnolia is known for adorning our gardens and enveloping us with its sweet scent. It was in 1764 that François Bonamy, botanist and director of the Jardin des Plantes in Nantes, identified the Magnolia grandiflora. In the language of flowers, magnolia is the symbol of fidelity. An emblematic flower of spring, it also expresses a love of nature. In perfumery, magnolia is generally reproduced in the laboratory. It offers very floral, vanilla-like and sweet tonalities. Then, the base of “Cristalle Eau Verte” combines white musks, iris and jasmine for a delicate floral sensuality. The bottle takes up the main codes of its predecessor. More slender, it nonetheless aims to be more understated and features a most elegant cap.
