While the house of Azzaro initially specialized in making clothing for women, it was ultimately in the realm of men's perfumery that it truly won over the public.
After paying tribute to the bond uniting a father and his son, in 1996, the Azzaro brand set out to create a fragrance to complement its Chrome range. It is named Chrome Pure. Like its predecessor, it draws on the deep sense of friendship held by Loris Azzaro. Indeed, he always made sharing one of his fundamental values. Taking up the same philosophy as its predecessors, the new Chrome Pure respects Azzaro's tradition while bringing it new freshness and greater modernity. Azzaro collaborates with two perfumers
To create the new Chrome Pure, the house of Azzaro called on two perfumers. The first is named Olivier Pescheux. This is not his first collaboration with the house. Indeed, we already owe him the Chrome Legend version. A renowned perfumer, he always strives to achieve the best possible harmony in a fragrance. Keen to reveal the best of raw materials to clients, he is known for his highly meticulous work. This earned him, in 2010, the International Prize for best fragrance. Here, Olivier Pescheux was joined by the talent of Jacques Huclier. An emblematic figure of contemporary perfumery, he acquired his expertise at one of the most prestigious perfumery schools in the world: the ISIPCA in Versailles. After spending many years across the Atlantic, he proved himself extensively within the Givaudan house as well as through numerous collaborations with the greatest creative houses. It is therefore the combination of these two exceptional talents that is found at the heart of the new Chrome Pure.
The aromatic clarity of Chrome Pure
Together, Jacques Huclier and Olivier Pescheux chose to create a fragrance that revisits the essential elements of the very first Chrome by Azzaro. They chose to preserve its aromatic character while giving it greater freshness as well as a profound modernity. They dared to add novel ingredients that are almost never used in perfumery. Chrome Pure's opening is nonetheless fairly classic. It expresses the invigorating freshness of citrus. Specifically, Chrome Pure opens with a blend of bergamot and mandarin. These two elements, however, quickly give way to an unexpected raw material: Akigalawood. This fragrant material is a purely synthetic product created entirely by Givaudan. Its scent falls somewhere between that of patchouli and that of oud wood. Thus, this ingredient lends structure to the fragrance and gives it more character. It is paired with an aquatic accord as well as with the luminous, Mediterranean scent of orange blossom. Chrome Pure quickly moves toward a more enveloping base. This releases a breath of cedar, tonka bean and yerba mate. White musk, for its part, lends a more airy and sensual feel here.
