Blu Mediterraneo Fico di Amalfi

Blu Mediterraneo Fico di Amalfi, created by Acqua Di Parma in 2006, opens on a trio of citrus notes where Grapefruit, Bergamot and Citron share a common freshness. The heart blends sweet Fig and Jasmine with spicy Pink pepper, while the base finds Green fig again alongside Cedar and Benzoin, both vanilla-tinged.

Where to buy

Acqua di Parma built Blu Mediterraneo around a collection whose principle comes down to a simple rule: each fragrance focuses on an ingredient emblematic of a place on the Italian coastline. Inaugurated by Arancia di Capri, the line has grown to bring together, according to one retailer, eight fragrances, and Fico di Amalfi, released in 2006, ranks among its pillars. Its name thus pairs a fruit with a coast, fig and Amalfi. The choice of the Eau de Toilette format also signaled, for a house then identified with its classic colognes, a shift toward a more contemporary style of writing.

The house classifies the composition as woody green — Woody Green on its official website, Vert Boisé in the French description relayed by its retailers — while Fragrantica classes it as floral fruity. The discrepancy in reading is instructive: it comes down to the very nature of fig, which can be approached through the sweet flesh of the fruit or through the slightly bitter green of the leaf and wood that carry it.

The opening is citrus-driven and distinctly Italian: Italian lemon and Italian bergamot sit alongside grapefruit, with Fragrantica adding citron to this opening. The heart establishes the theme with fig nectar, rounded out with jasmine petals and lifted by pink pepper, whose spicy freshness keeps the sweetness from turning heavy. The base extends the motif through fig wood, set against cedarwood and benzoin, which brings its balsamic tone. The composition thus reads less as an isolated fruit than as the tree itself, with the fig tree returning in the base in a woody form.

The fragrance comes in the house's Art Deco bottle, adapted for the collection in thick glass tinted a deep blue whose play of reflections evokes the transparency of the sea. This same bottle dresses the whole Blu Mediterraneo line, Mirto di Panarea included, and the blue chosen is associated with energy, sunshine and the colors of the Italian Mediterranean. The Eau de Toilette is manufactured in Italy and offered notably in 150 ml; a home diffuser version of 180 ml uses a blue glass bottle inspired by the color of the sea.

The collection has undergone a relaunch accompanied by new packaging, Fico di Amalfi included. In 2025, the house gave it a variation in Eau de Parfum, Fico di Amalfi La Riserva, fitted with a pyramid distinct from that of the original and a revised presentation: a more intense shade of blue on the bottle and cap, a redesigned label, and an enlarged hatbox.
