Michel Girard at the service of the very young with Burberry Baby Touch
To create the children's fragrance, the house of Burberry chose Michel Girard. He was born in Paris and was not originally destined to become a perfumer. He joined Givaudan in 1998. A perfumer-creator, Michel Girard works for the greatest houses. He is regarded as a perfumer who is not only talented but also very intelligent, delicate and kind. When asked what his favorite raw material is, he states that oddly he likes natural materials a great deal, but has a preference for green notes, which are rather synthetic products. He also states that he greatly likes flowers such as jasmine, orange blossom and tuberose. Michel Girard is behind great fragrances such as 1 Million by Paco Rabanne, L'Homme Lacoste by Lacoste and L'Air by Nina Ricci.
Tenderness at the heart of the Baby Touch fragrance
Michel Girard therefore decided to bring tenderness to the fore for this water reserved for the very young. Baby Touch opens with citrus notes, namely those of mandarin and orange zests. They are then joined by the softness of rhubarb and the freshness of mint. The word rhubarb comes from the Latin rhu, meaning stem. Originating in Asia, rhubarb was introduced to Europe in the 17th century.
Considered a vegetable, rhubarb was definitively classified in the fruits category in 1947 by the New York Customs administration. In cooking, only the stalks are eaten. In perfumery, rhubarb offers scents that are fruity, green, aromatic and floral all at once. Then, the heart of Baby Touch is soft and floral, combining orange blossom, cyclamen, lily of the valley and jasmine. Cyclamen is a perennial plant from the Middle East. Cyclamen was introduced to Europe in the 16th century and grown mainly in the botanical gardens of Queen Elizabeth I. Legend has it that cyclamen has aphrodisiac properties and that when placed on the windowsill of the marital bedroom, it contributes to the couple's happiness. In perfumery, cyclamen offers floral, green and highly fragrant tonalities. Finally, the base of Baby Touch is delicate and tender, like a mother's arms, combining vanilla and warm milk. The bottle resembles that of Burberry Touch for adults. With its rounded shape and transparent blue color, it adapts here perfectly to the world of babies.
