Aromatics in White, a magnetic fragrance. The Clinique brand was founded in the United States in 1968, driven by the Estée Lauder group. All of the brand's products are designed to be hypoallergenic and are developed with the help of a dermatologist.
Aromatics Elixir and its magical charm had managed to astonish women of the 1970s by offering powerful and rare scents, far removed from the usual understated aspect of Clinique products. Having become a cult classic, it took until the 40th anniversary of the launch of this miracle perfume for one of its direct descendants to appear on the market: Aromatics in White. Far from becoming subdued, Aromatics in White and its creator Nicolas Beaulieu once again offer us scents that stand out.
Aromatics in White, the radiant descendant of Clinique's legendary perfume
Aromatics Elixir was the very first perfume from Clinique, the brand founded by Estée Lauder, very famous in the 1970s. Since Clinique products prided themselves on offering only natural ingredients without artifice in their composition, one might have expected to discover a subdued and neutral perfume. What a surprise it was to discover the spectacular notes designed by Bernard Chant for this Aromatics Elixir! Far from being understated, Aromatics Elixir is a concentrate of sensuality and multiple scents…
Within a few months, Bernard Chant's perfume caused the brand's sales to soar, and for a very long time, as Aromatics Elixir defied all the laws of modern perfumery. When Clinique celebrated the 40th anniversary of this now legendary perfume, it wished to pay tribute to it by asking Nicolas Beaulieu for an Aromatics Elixir updated for its time; it would be named Aromatics in White.
Far from becoming a pale copy of its brilliant predecessor, Aromatics in White offers women who love Aromatics Elixir scents that are just as brilliant as its predecessor but far better suited to the woman of the new millennium.
The scent of Clinique's Aromatics in White
Between sun-kissed flowers, peppery freshness and burning sensuality, Aromatics in White stays true to itself…
Nicolas Beaulieu is a perfumer passionate about floral scents, which he would go on to explore beautifully in the fragrances that followed Aromatics in White, such as Repetto Eau Florale or Eclat de Fleurs for Lanvin. Thus he made Aromatics in White a thoroughly floral perfume that, while retaining the contrasted backbone of its predecessor, becomes lighter and more spring-like while remaining highly original.
Thus, just like Aromatics Elixir, Aromatics in White opens with a sharp, fresh start composed of violet leaves and Sichuan pepper. However, the fresh top notes are soon clothed in the animalic languor of labdanum cistus, surprising us and enveloping us in a veil of infinite sensuality. In the heart, Nicolas Beaulieu offers us his finest flowers thanks to notes of rosewater and warm orange blossom. Finally, this floral sun is soon punctuated by the mysterious notes of ambergris, musk and benzoin, carrying us into depths of irresistible darkness.
While cultivating a personality all its own, more nuanced and contrasted than that of Aromatics Elixir, Aromatics in White has this in common with its predecessor: a touch of originality and independence […]. Au Parfum on Aromatics in White.
