FougèreThe history of Hugo Boss
Hugo Boss owes its beginnings to a German tailor who opened his first shop in 1923 in Metzingen, not far from Stuttgart. It specialized in protective clothing for industry, raincoats and uniforms. From 1939, the war appeared as an opportunity for Hugo Boss, which began manufacturing uniforms exclusively for the army. It was not until the end of the war that the house's standard activity resumed its course. Nevertheless, its founder died in 1948, and it was thereafter the family line that took up the torch. It was ultimately his two grandsons, Uwe and Jochen Holy, who decided to move into menswear ready-to-wear, which at the same time forced them to modernize their production techniques. Hugo Boss men's suits, for their part, appeared in 1966, displaying remarkable quality, which allowed them to establish themselves in the world of German menswear ready-to-wear. Little by little, Hugo Boss managed to increase its reputation, eventually crossing the Atlantic to dress famous actors or athletes, such as Sylvester Stallone. Nevertheless, Hugo Boss experienced a slight slowdown in the early 1990s, which was short-lived thanks to the renewal instilled by Peter Littmann, hired as CEO. In addition, he launched the Hugo label aimed at a younger target and offering lower prices. He also focused on the internationalization of Hugo Boss, making it today one of the most famous brands in the world.
Hugo Boss perfumes
Alongside this expansion, the house of Hugo Boss decided to move into perfumery as early as 1985 by creating a masculine and aromatic fragrance named Boss Number One. Boss Sport followed in 1987 before being succeeded by Boss Spirit in 1989 and Boss Elements in 1994. Nevertheless, it was not until 1995 that consecration came with the launch of Hugo, a green and aromatic fragrance synonymous with the wind of freedom of the 90s. Its feminine version, for its part, appeared two years later, in 1997. The olfactory success story of Hugo Boss then continued with the creation of the emblematic Boss Bottled, a pillar of Hugo Boss perfumery. Of course, it is well known that many other fragrances from the house have since been crowned with success, such as the numerous variations of Hugo and Boss Bottled or the very latest Boss The Scent.
