Marie Salamagne

Azzedine Alaïa is a designer whose world resembles no other. He dares to create ultra-fitted dresses while embellishing them with highly refined materials and preserving an extreme elegance throughout. Also, since 2015, he has ventured into perfumery. To do so, he called upon the talented perfumer Marie Salamagne. She then said of the fragrance that it was a first step into the designer's world beyond luxury.

Marie Salamagne's love of art

Marie Salamagne is above all an artist at heart and is passionate about music, painting and dance. Also, fascinated by the world of perfumery, a field that brings together the beauty of scents and the art of bottle design, she decided to turn to one of the most prestigious perfumery schools there is: the ISIPCA in Versailles. Indeed, the world of perfumery is quite closed off and it is very difficult to enter it when one does not come from a family of perfumers or was not born in Grasse. The ISIPCA thus proves to be one of the only doorways into the world of perfumery. Upon leaving this school, diploma in hand, Marie Salamagne joined the Firmenich group, a true giant of its sector and a company she has never left since.

Marie Salamagne's passion for her craft

Marie Salamagne believes that being a perfumer is above all a craft of patience and humility. It also requires a strong dose of perseverance. Nevertheless, the passion that drives her makes her an excellent player in this world. Marie Salamagne particularly enjoys working with woody and balsamic notes. She also appreciates the scent of ambroxan, the power of patchouli and the nobility of iris. In other words, Marie Salamagne likes to use raw materials with strong character and multiple facets. In fact, she explains that what interests her most about them is above all the difficulty of using them.

Generally speaking, Marie Salamagne is recognized for her numerous salty and mineral creations. Having contributed to the creation of Black Opium by Yves Saint-Laurent, she is also the creator of the fragrances Eau de Nuit by Armani, Aqua Allegoria Laurier Réglisse by Guerlain and Tokyo by Kenzo. She states today that each of her fragrances meets the needs of these different houses but that she has above all put a great deal of herself into them, an ingredient she considers essential to the successful creation of a fragrant work.
