Vanille Fatale

Vanille Fatale is the eau de parfum Tom Ford added to his Private Blend collection at the end of 2017. A dark, smoky vanilla that opens on saffron, coriander, myrrh and olibanum, with a heart of roasted barley, coffee, narcissus and frangipani and a base of Madagascan vanilla, mahogany and suede, in a chocolate-brown bottle.

Ree, on Really Ree, finds in 2018 a raw yet sophisticated vanilla, smoky, creamy and unsweetened, that suits men as well as women; she only finds it too discreet.

What critics say

Really Ree, January 2018

Ree, on 7 January 2018, sees in it a modern, singular vanilla, raw yet sophisticated, intriguing from the first spray. Nothing sugary: the fragrance is warm and smoky, creamy and smooth, and would suit a man as well as a woman without being entirely masculine.

She likes the pairing of vanilla with incense notes, as well as the suede, which gives the woody base an animalic rawness. Her only criticism: the fragrance stays too close to the body, and she has to spray a lot of it to get the effect she wants.
