Vanille Fatale is the eau de parfum Tom Ford added to his Private Blend collection at the end of 2017. A dark, smoky vanilla that opens on saffron, coriander, myrrh and olibanum, with a heart of roasted barley, coffee, narcissus and frangipani and a base of Madagascan vanilla, mahogany and suede, in a chocolate-brown bottle.
At launch, the house described an opening of saffron and coriander, wrapped in incense by myrrh and olibanum.
Roasted barley and coffee
The heart rests on roasted barley, with a pull close to tobacco, and on roasted coffee absolute, with narcissus and frangipani, for a floral note rooted in the earth.
Vanilla, mahogany and suede
Madagascan vanilla blends with mahogany, and suede adds a wild touch to the base, with a smoky gleam.
What the label declares
The label opens with alcohol, fragrance and water. Turpentine and terpinolene come straight after, before a synthetic musk, hexamethylindanopyran.
The declared allergens are limonene, alpha-isomethyl ionone, benzyl salicylate, hydroxycitronellal, linalool, coumarin, benzyl benzoate, benzyl cinnamate, citral, oakmoss extract, farnesol, geraniol, citronellol and isoeugenol.
The list also names acetyl cedrene, dwarf pine, geranium oil, Atlas cedar oil, bergamot oil, rose oil and extract, sclareol, camphor, benzyl alcohol and benzoic acid, among other compounds.
