Fourth installment of the Soleil line, Soleil de Feu was released in March 2023 in Tom Ford's Private Blend collection. The house describes it as a woody amber fragrance: a tuberose accord and an exotic sandalwood, warmed with benzoin and ambers, following an opening of bergamot and spices. Less beach-oriented than Soleil Blanc, more resinous, it aims for the moment the sun falls into the sea and leaves the warmth behind.
A spicy rather than fresh opening
The house opens on Italian bergamot, pink pepper, cardamom and violet leaf. The accord is brief: the citrus and spices warm the opening rather than refresh it, and the citrus freshness does not last long.
Tuberose, magnolia, coconut water
The heart pairs two white flowers with opposing facets: tuberose, fleshy and vaguely spicy, and magnolia, lemony and transparent. Coconut water renders them milky without sweetening them outright, giving them a creamy texture.
This accord ties Soleil de Feu to the rest of the line. Soleil Blanc already worked with white flower and coconut, but for a beach in broad daylight; the same material here serves an entirely different moment.
A base of sandalwood and benzoin
Exotic sandalwood carries the base, both creamy and dry. Benzoin adds its vanillic resin and balsamic texture, and warm ambers hold the trail — dense, long, without sparkle, consistent with the claimed bronze color.
The published ingredient list includes coumarin, benzyl cinnamate, eugenol and isoeugenol. These markers signal almond, balsamic and clove facets that the house's olfactory description does not name.
What the retail directories add
Online inventories extend the list: incense, tonka bean, Peru balsam, cocoa, patchouli, ambroxan. Tom Ford's description mentions none of these, and the divergence concerns base materials, those that are least perceptible.
