Rose Exposed, by Tom Ford, opens with pink pepper and white pepper, both spicy. The heart combines orange blossom, rose and rosewater, before a base of sandalwood, musk and leather, warm and sensual.
Pink pepper, spicy and sweet, and white pepper, spicy and dry, occupy the top notes over a shared spice base, with the dryness of the latter setting it apart from the sweetness of the former.
Orange blossom, waxy, sweet and powdery, rose, warm, honeyed and waxy, and rosewater, all softness, share the heart; orange blossom and rose share the waxy facet, while rosewater shares no descriptor with them.
Sandalwood and musk, both woody and animalic, sit alongside leather, dry and smoky, in the base: the animalic wood of the first two contrasts with the dryness of the leather.
