Man Wood Essence, a Bulgari creation from 2018, opens on lively, animalic coriander, tangy lemon and fresh citrus. Heart and base then combine earthy vetiver, resinous cedar evoking pencil shavings, and honeyed benzoin with hints of caramel.
Coriander, fresh and animalic, occupies the top. Lemon and citrus meet it on a shared acidity. The spice of the coriander, for its part, stands in sharp contrast to what surrounds it.
Vetiver, woody and smoky, cedar, evoking pencil shavings and resin, and benzoin, honeyed and caramelized, share the heart and base. The wood of the vetiver and that of the cedar belong to the same smoky register.
