Petit Matin

Petit Matin is an eau de parfum from Maison Francis Kurkdjian, launched in 2016 as a duo with Grand Soir and composed by Francis Kurkdjian. A citrus musk, it evokes dawn in a still-deserted Paris: the energy of litsea cubeba and Calabrian lemon, the floral softness of hawthorn, Provençal lavandin and orange blossom, and finally a maze of musky notes.

Luke Singleton, writing for Wylde Magazine, sees Petit Matin as an aromatic green of bracing freshness, to wear first thing in the morning, whose ambroxan tempers the sweetness of the citrus with a musky, powdery depth.

What critics say

Luke Singleton, Wylde Magazine, August 2017

Luke Singleton describes the Petit Matin and Grand Soir duo, launched as unisex in the fall of 2016, as seasonal perfumes of exceptional depth, designed to accompany the passage from day to night and made to last.

He sees Petit Matin as an aromatic green of bracing freshness, to apply first thing in the morning before heading out to seize the day. He singles out the energy of lemon and orange blossom, and the softness of lavender and hawthorn.

In his view, the polarizing ingredient is ambroxan: it cuts the sweetness of the citrus with a musky, powdery depth. He contrasts Petit Matin with Grand Soir, a rich, dark oriental meant for the evening.
