A fresh bergamot

Bergamot gives the opening its citrus note. Jean Paul Gaultier calls it fresh and pairs it with pear to brighten a composition dominated by vanilla, hence La Belle’s character, at once luminous and warm.

A green pear

Pear, which Jean Paul Gaultier describes as green and radiant, carries the fragrance’s fruity character. With bergamot, it forms the green side of this amber, that of the leafy garden where Gaultier’s original woman lives.

The vanilla bean

The base rests on vanilla bean, torrid and addictive in the house’s words. It brings the fragrance its ambery warmth and its gourmand quality; it is what makes La Belle an amber, classified among the oriental vanillas from its launch.

The 2019 vetiver

At its launch in 2019, the house paired pear and vanilla with a vetiver. That vetiver no longer appears in the notes it publishes today, where bergamot has taken its place. None of its statements mentions leather, amber or musks.
