French Polynesia for an “Escale” under the magical scents of tiare

After offering, through the Escales, journeys to Italy along the riviera with Escale à Portofino, then along the route to the Indies with Escale à Pondichéry in 2010, Dior's paths now lead us to the Marquesas Islands. What better way to make us dream than to offer the rare and refined scents of the island imagined by Gauguin or Brel, to create a fragrance with the taste of faraway places?

The visual for Escale aux Marquises plays, of course, on this foretaste of paradise, showcasing a breathtaking view of the lovely Polynesian archipelago taken from the edge of an exotic villa, naturally lined with a majestic palm tree. An idyllic setting for a fragrance.

Yet while the Marquesas readily lend this new Dior a taste of exoticism and of an island lost in Polynesia, the tiare flower elevated to the fragrance's star does not necessarily win over. Its various sun-kissed facets have already been used, perhaps too much so, in fragrances aiming for a summery feel. Still, one should recall the talent and know-how of the house of Dior and its conductor François Demachy, who, far from crafting a syrupy fragrance, has built, using the finest natural raw materials of the archipelago, an elegant and sophisticated aromatic citrus Escale aux Marquises.

Do not look for novelty in the precious bottle of Escale aux Marquises, which belongs to the lovely Escales collection through its glass cannage emblematic of Dior and its silver cap bearing the house's monogram. On the other hand, the journey begins the moment one glimpses the lovely sandy pink hue showing through the transparency of the glass… And that is only the beginning!

In the top notes, blood orange essence blends with zesty lemon notes, the better to be carried along by a powerful cocktail of Polynesian spices such as elemi, ginger, nutmeg and cinnamon. Just as aromatic and fragrant, the heart offers powerful notes of pink pepper extract typical of South America, accompanied by lovely floral notes of freesia and neroli. Finally, the tiare flower reveals the power of its scent in the fragrance's deep sillage, exhaling its rarely explored facets, sweet and velvety, thanks to a few notes of vanilla and benzoin.
