Aventus

Launched by Creed in 2010, Aventus is an eau de parfum for men whose inspiration the house traces to the life of Napoleon. Jean-Christophe Hérault composed it, while Creed attributes it to Olivier Creed. Woody, fresh and fruity according to the house, it brings together Calabrian bergamot, a pineapple accord and a smoky, leathery birch.

In 2010, Apicius sees Aventus as nothing more than a conservative, very Creed masculine whose bottle is its only novelty; in 2021, Benexm finds it beautiful without judging it as exceptional as its reputation, and decides not to buy it for now.

What critics say

Apicius, Parfumo, October 2010

On October 23, 2010, Apicius recalls that Creed is not known for daring: the Aventus bottle, half sheathed in black while the house’s other bottles remain clear, strikes him as the only novelty. The announced blackcurrant, pineapple and rose escape him.

He ranks Aventus among the house’s solid, conservative masculines, in the line of Himalaya, Millésime Impérial, Erolfa or Royal Water, and judges it just as interchangeable. He grants it as much allure as a department-store suit.

Benexm, Parfumo, March 2021

On March 28, 2021, Benexm discovers Aventus among samples from the house, as a gateway into niche perfumery. He finds the fragrance beautiful, without it delivering the shock he had been promised.

He would gladly compliment someone wearing it, but gives up buying it for now. He suspects that those who see it as the ultimate fragrance believe they own something exceptional.
