Alien Eau Sublime: When the fairy takes hold of sweetness When the explosive Alien seized Thierry Mugler’s perfumed planet in 2005, its extraordinary warm, floral and woody facets shattered clichés.
Alien is a perfume that came into being in 2005 from the hands of Thierry Mugler and that was very quickly described as a talisman or ritual allowing one to make contact with something sacred, something divine. So, at the start of 2017, it seems that its creator decided to transform his famous philosopher’s stone into a more oriental and woody juice. Focus on the new, intense aromas of Alien Eau Sublime.
The many derivatives of Alien by Thierry Mugler
Before looking at the new composition of this unprecedented perfume, let us begin by examining the complex history of this UFO of perfumery and its many reinterpretations. Indeed, Alien is a juice that has kept being reinterpreted since its birth. Originally, it was a fragrance composed by Dominique Ropion, Olivier Polge and Laurent Bruyère. Together, they created a true olfactory wave born of the impertinence of this trio of perfumers. The whole blended woody and amber tonalities for a result with a narcotic femininity. Then, starting in 2009, Alien became an eau de toilette before turning, in 2011, into an exotic cocktail based on kiwi. What is more, that same year, Thierry Mugler included a salted-butter version of Alien in his Le Goût du Parfum collection. The year 2012 proved highly prolific in turn, as no fewer than three variants of this juice were created: one in the form of a summer edition, Aqua Chic, another reviving the tradition of the Gantiers Parfumeurs for a leathery result, and finally a more opulent alternative via Alien Essence Absolue. Then 2013 saw Alien Aqua Chic lit up by the sun-kissed lightness of orange blossom, before this juice was aged like a liqueur in another flanker called Liqueur de Parfum. Finally, 2014 was the year of Alien Eau Extraordinaire, while 2015 saw the appearance of Alien Oud Majestueux. As one can see, this is far from Thierry Mugler’s first attempt, and one wonders what new surprise awaits us in Alien Eau Sublime.
The new luminous energy of Alien Eau Sublime
With the creation of the new Alien Eau Sublime, it seems that Thierry Mugler has this time staked everything on luminosity and dynamism. This new fragrance thus takes up the base accords of the Alien perfume while adding citrus notes and more sun-kissed floral and green notes. As a result, this perfume gives off a fresh, radiant and serene effect. Of course, jasmine, amber and cashmere are still present. However, other ingredients join the mix. Alien Eau Sublime opens on an unprecedented citrus accord of lemon, orange and mandarin. Likewise, to further heighten the freshness of this perfume, galbanum has been added to its recipe. Then, the heart of Alien Eau Sublime is carried by the presence of sambac jasmine and orange blossom. This luminous impulse is also paired with cherry blossom as well as heliotrope for an even more poetic result. Finally, the whole ends on a deep, woody sillage emanating from vetiver, white amber and cashmeran.
