A Balm of Calm is a unisex eau de parfum launched in 2023 by Penhaligon's in the Potions & Remedies collection, an apothecary-inspired line of five fragrances. Positioned by the house as a remedy for serenity under the motto “Panic no more!”, it combines lavender, clary sage and cardamom in the top notes, geranium and iris in the heart, over a base of rum, sandalwood, oakwood and vetiver.
Lavender and clary sage, both floral, sit in the top notes alongside cardamom, spicy and fresh; lavender and cardamom also share this freshness that runs through the trio.
Geranium, rosy and soft, sits alongside iris, powdery and buttery, in the heart.
Rum and oakwood, both vanillic, frame sandalwood, woody and velvety, in the base; oakwood also joins sandalwood on the woody facet, forming a double link between the three materials.
