CitrusThe identity of the Acqua Di Parma house
Acqua Di Parma is a house of Italian origin specializing in the design, manufacture and sale of perfumery items, home candles, leather goods and bath linen. It was founded in 1916 in a small workshop in the city of Parma. It was in that very same year that the house's original fragrance, Colonia, was created. Its formula has remained unchanged throughout the last century and offers a unique alchemy. Colonia is still considered today to be an extremely refined fragrance, subtly blending sun-kissed citrus essences from Sicily with floral, aromatic and woody notes. Very different from the opulent scents of its era, it ushered in the golden age of the Acqua Di Parma brand. Its renown continued to grow throughout the 1930s to the 1950s. It was during these decades that Acqua Di Parma decided to expand its range by offering home fragrance items inspired by Mediterranean scents, as well as handmade luxury leather goods accessories. Then, the 1950s marked the peak of the Acqua Di Parma house. Indeed, it was at this moment that Italian cinema experienced its golden age, and Acqua Di Parma took the opportunity to win over the greatest names of the seventh art who came to film in Rome. Celebrities quickly snapped up its products, and this allowed Acqua Di Parma to extend well beyond Italian borders.
Acqua Di Parma’s Italian elegance
It was in 1998 that the Acqua Di Parma brand opened its first store in Milan, showcasing a wide range of items including fragrances, colognes, beauty and shaving products, home items and leather goods. Today, Acqua Di Parma stands as a benchmark of Italian refinement and craftsmanship the world over. It now has a store on rue des Francs Bourgeois in Paris, in the Marais district, as well as another on Piazza di Spagna in Rome. Acqua Di Parma has also opened several spas in its home country, notably in Sardinia and in Venice. Its ambition is to remain close to its customers while building a prestigious international image. Each new creation from the house proves to be highly meticulous. As Acqua Di Parma's chief executive officer, Gabriella Scarpa, explains, creating a new fragrance can take up to two years. Indeed, every Acqua Di Parma perfume incorporates numerous prestigious ingredients, and nothing seems too fine for this great house, which does not hesitate to treat itself to the finest raw materials in the world.
