Drift Rose

Drift Rose is an Eau de Parfum by New York designer Ulla Johnson, one of three in her first collection, ULLA, presented on April 28, 2026. British perfumer Lyn Harris composed it with the house of Robertet. Sicilian lemon, white peach and immortelle open onto Turkish rose and cardamom, over a base of sandalwood, vetiver and papyrus.

Erin Lukas, in The Zoe Report, and Brooke Knappenberger, in Marie Claire, dwell on the contrast between the luminous opening of Drift Rose and its darker woody base, which evokes for them a sunset over the coast; both consider it a transitional-season fragrance.

What critics say

A sunset over the Atlantic

On April 28, 2026, in The Zoe Report, Erin Lukas describes a sun-dried floral that sets light, sparkling fruits against a dark, rich woody base. This contrast makes it, in her view, the ideal fragrance for transitional seasons, one she finds herself wearing constantly.

She finds the opening bright, dominated by citrus and flowers; as it dries down, the sandalwood, vetiver and papyrus take over and lend the fragrance an air of mystery. She compares it to a late summer afternoon among friends, not knowing where the evening will lead.

A rose in a supporting role

On May 8, 2026, in Marie Claire, Brooke Knappenberger notes that rose fragrances are often seen as dated, powdery or soapy, and finds that one try of Drift Rose is enough to change that view. The rose, in her view, plays a supporting role rather than the lead.

She notes the contrast between the tart lemon and soft peach of the opening, on one side, and the lightly spicy cardamom and vetiver of the base, on the other: it evokes for her a sunset over the coast. She sees it as the fragrance of the transitional months.
