Lion, a men’s eau de parfum from Rayhaan, opens on pear, lavender, mint and bergamot. Cinnamon, clary sage and cumin spice its middle, over a base of vanilla, amber, patchouli and cedar. Its opaque black bottle bears on the front a black and gold plaque from which a lion’s head stands out.

Rayhaan spreads its notes over three tiers: pear, lavender, mint and bergamot at the top; cinnamon, clary sage and cumin at the heart; vanilla, amber, patchouli and cedar at the base. The house describes the whole as oriental spices and sweetness.

Pear, lavender, mint and bergamot

Pear brings a juicy fruit, which mint and bergamot freshen. Lavender adds its aromatic, herbal and slightly camphorous note, which heralds the herbs of the next tier.

Cinnamon, clary sage and cumin

Cinnamon, a warm and sweet bark, leads the spicy tier. Clary sage extends the lavender with an aromatic facet with ambery accents, and cumin, a seed with warm, almost animalic accents, sharpens its relief.

Vanilla, amber, patchouli and cedar

Vanilla and amber warm the base with a sugary sweetness. Patchouli brings an earthy, woody note, and cedar a dry line that gives the whole its structure.
