Since then, the house has come a long way and Caron is now known for the success that is its own. Its perfumes are synonymous with quality and time-honored craftsmanship. Caron is behind great olfactory successes such as Pour un Homme, Yatagan, Fleur de Rocaille or Lady Caron. In 1991, Caron presented Parfum Sacré. Far more than a simple fragrance, Parfum Sacré pays tribute to the sacred origins of perfume.

A tribute to perfume by Caron

With Parfum Sacré, Caron wished to pay tribute to perfume, but in its most sacred sense, hence its name. Here, one goes back to the true origins, when perfume was offered to the gods, then the finest of offerings. At first, populations burned spices and/or resin to obtain incense. It should be remembered that the word perfume comes from the Latin per fumare, meaning through smoke. Incense smoke was therefore considered a form of perfume which, in certain traditions, served as a link between the living and the dead. For others, perfume purified the soul, and whoever burned incense was thereby protected. At the outset, perfume carried an important notion of spirituality. It is precisely this part of spirituality and mystery that Caron wished to convey in Parfum Sacré.

Parfum Sacré and the surprise of pepper and cinnamon

As is its custom, Caron likes to surprise and to appear where least expected. With Parfum Sacré, Caron pairs pepper and cinnamon with an unprecedented floral accord. Parfum Sacré opens on the highly spicy notes of cinnamon and pepper, ingredients never usually found in a top note, thus creating surprise. The spices gradually give way to the mystery of rose absolute. This then blends with other floral accords. Musk and myrrh combine in the base notes to offer a highly sensual powdery sillage. As for the bottle, it resembles all those in the women's line. Rectangular, it is topped with a shiny white cabochon. It reveals its juice of a brilliant golden yellow color, radiant with truth.
