Un Bel Amour d’Été, an eau de parfum from Parfum d’Empire released in 2024, was composed by Marc-Antoine Corticchiato. The house describes it as a carnal, solar floral born from the memory of a summer love: a round, milky gardenia at its heart, a magnolia essence, champaca absolute and ylang, over a base of Madagascar vanilla, Indian sandalwood and ambrette.
The composition is built around a gardenia and magnolia accord, the very one that awakened the perfumer’s memory. The house does not sort its materials into tiers; it makes gardenia the beating heart of the fragrance.
Gardenia and magnolia
Round and milky, gardenia binds skin and petal. An essence of magnolia flowers, with apricot nuances, makes it more radiant, and ylang-ylang absolute adds a golden languor.
Champaca and turmeric
A tropical cousin of magnolia, champaca lends the whole the balsamic, jasmine-like, oily note of its absolute. Turmeric warms this bouquet of white flowers with a hint of spice.
The base
A blond vanilla from Madagascar evokes sun-gilded skin, and Indian sandalwood essence heightens the creamy feel of the bouquet. Ambrette, a vegetal musk, lights the whole with the glow of warm sand.
What the label declares
The ingredient list has thirteen entries: denatured alcohol, fragrance and water, and ten regulated allergens: linalool, limonene, citronellol, eugenol, hydroxycitronellal, alpha-isomethyl ionone, citral, benzyl alcohol, geraniol and isoeugenol.
