Oud Wood is the oud Eau de Parfum that Tom Ford launched in 2007 in his Private Blend collection. Composed by Richard Herpin, it moves from rosewood, cardamom and Sichuan pepper to a smoky blend of oud, sandalwood and vetiver, warmed by tonka bean, vanilla and amber. With it, Tom Ford returned to oud five years after M7.
Robin, at Now Smell This, calls it her favorite of the Private Blend collection; Kafkaesque praises an approachable oud with an opening of rare softness for Tom Ford.

Robin ranks Oud Wood first among her favorites in the Private Blend collection. She compares it to M7, whose woody, earthy character and bitter, almost medicinal edge it keeps, but finds it lighter and quieter, the oud softened by vanilla.
Kafkaesque
Kafkaesque finds its opening softer than that of any other Tom Ford fragrance: “the softest opening I’ve ever experienced for one of his perfumes.” She describes an approachable oud, where cardamom and vetiver take over as the rose fades.
She calls it possibly her second-favorite Private Blend and compares it to Kilian’s Rose Oud for its rose and gentle agarwood, while noting a difference that is hard to put into words.
