Before Ani X, which NISHANE released in 2023, there is Ani, an extrait de parfum launched by the house in 2019 and composed by Cécile Zarokian. Part of the oriental family, Ani opens on ginger, bergamot and pepper. Its heart brings together cardamom, blackcurrant and rose, and its base blends vanilla, benzoin, sandalwood, cedar, patchouli, ambergris and musk.
Top
Ginger opens the formula on a spicy warmth shot through with a brightness close to citrus. Bergamot brings a fresh fruit touched by a sweet nuance. Pepper completes the tier with a dry spice with herbaceous accents, giving definition to the opening.
Heart
Cardamom carries a spicy, aromatic and crisp freshness here. Blackcurrant introduces a tart greenness, with that sulfurous edge attributed to the blackcurrant bud. Rose appears warm, honeyed, almost waxy, far from an aquatic flower.
Base
Sweet, spicy vanilla and benzoin with hints of caramel and toasted almond form a gourmand base. Sandalwood adds a velvety wood, cedar its scent of resinous pencil shavings. Patchouli brings damp earth and camphor, ambergris an animalic facet, musk a woody warmth.
Oriental family
The oriental classification is read in the resinous, sweet warmth of the base: vanilla and benzoin carry its balsamic sweetness, ambergris and musk its depth. The spices of the opening and heart, ginger, pepper and cardamom, extend this warm, amber register.
What the label declares
Limonene and linalool, present in citrus essences such as bergamot, are among the declared components. Citral, with its lemony scent, is also found in ginger. Citronellol and geraniol are classic constituents of rose, and eugenol evokes clove.
