Sintra

Memo Paris, a Parisian house founded in 2007 by Clara and John Molloy, conceives its fragrances as travel notes. Sintra came out in the fall of 2020 in the Art Land collection, at the same time as Odéon, and takes its name from the Portuguese town near Lisbon.

The house tells of a walk through an enchanted landscape: a palace rising from a colorful dream, spiral staircases, azulejos, fountains and lush vegetation. Sintra sets out to reawaken the magic of childhood, its pastel colors and its comforting treats.

A letter to the perfumer

Memo Paris published the letter that launched the project, addressed to Philippe Paparella from Portugal. It describes a summer palace in golden yellow and coral red, a blend of styles and eras, surrounded by a garden teeming with varied species.

The letter closes on a childhood memory, an imagined castle whose towers hid sweets, and on the idea that all this picture lacks is a scent. The house also pairs Sintra with an illustration by the artist Matthieu Cossé.
