L'Interdit Givenchy Eau de Parfum Intense

Dare a more intense Interdit! Givenchy's L'Interdit has become, in just a few years, a true pillar of modern feminine perfumery. Created in 2018 by Givenchy, it has already been reinterpreted several times, first becoming an Eau de Toilette, before being declined into two other Couture editions.

Some fragrances have the gift of plunging us into a distant place, on the other side of the world, with a single breath. Other fragrances, however, have the power to take us back in time. Such is the case of L'Interdit by Givenchy, a cult essence of the house, whose beginnings date back to the 1950s. Over the decades, L'Interdit has never stopped reinventing itself. In 2018, this feminine fragrance was profoundly modernized. Since then, it has continued to release new versions of its scent. Once again, in 2020, Givenchy creates a new edition. So, what about L'Interdit Eau de Parfum Intense? What does it retain from its predecessors and how is it so different? Here is our review on the subject.

Olfastory’s review

L'Interdit Eau de Parfum Intense, a composition much more powerful than before

Initially, the very first version of L'Interdit corresponded to a floral and romantic fragrance, designed for a refined woman, endowed with a natural charm and a rare sincerity. While the elegance of the Givenchy house still shows through in this 2020 edition, it must be admitted that this fragrance is much sharper and more incisive than in the past. Created by three renowned perfumers, it displays an untamable temperament without ever lacking refinement and distinction. At first, the power of black pepper is counterbalanced by the freshness of bergamot, while a juicy pear enters the formula. This paves the way for a more floral and romantic heart of tuberose and orange blossom. This is not unlike the softness of the very first L'Interdit fragrance. Nevertheless, a touch of originality is again brought to the center of this essence, through the addition of roasted, smoky black sesame. Gradually, L'Interdit Eau de Parfum Intense gains persistence through a woody addition of vetiver and patchouli. Finally, revealing all the sensuality of the woman wearing it, a touch of Madagascar vanilla enhances its base notes. Leathery, suave and exotic, this only gives additional depth to this formula.

Givenchy opts for a bottle with interior lacquering

As for the bottle, for this new fragrance, once again, Givenchy does not opt for simplicity. Indeed, the house chooses a new colorway. Forget the soft pink of before and make way for a much darker, more intense black shade. Thus, the visual of this fragrance is in perfect harmony with the scent it contains. What is more, Givenchy chose not to lacquer the outside of its bottle but rather the inside... This gives it a very interesting effect, similar to that of a nail polish. For even more elegance, a small silver plate bearing the Givenchy logo is fixed to the neck of this fragrance. It bears four finely engraved Gs and is attached to the rest of the glass structure by a black ribbon. Finally, to meet all the desires and needs of women, L'Interdit Eau de Parfum Intense comes in three different versions of 35, 50 or 85 ml.
