Cristalle, Henri Robert's last success
After Ernest Beaux, it was Henri Robert who took the helm of Chanel fragrances. Born in 1889 in Grasse, Henri Robert grew up in the world of perfumery from a very young age, since his father was already a perfumer. During the Second World War, Henri Robert was mobilized and his young career was interrupted until 1941, when he left France for the United States and was hired by the Coty company, where he created his first fragrance, Muguet des Bois, in 1936. He joined Chanel in 1952. In 1955, he created Chanel's first men's fragrance, Monsieur. In 1970, Henri Robert created N°19, a true tribute to Mademoiselle, born on August 19. Finally, in 1974, he presented his last success, Cristalle. Starting in 1978, Jacques Polge took over, tasked mainly with modernizing the house. In 1993, Jacques Polge decided to revisit Cristalle into a more sensual, more modern fragrance.
Cristalle, lively, fresh and floral notes
Cristalle takes flight on the invigorating freshness of Sicilian lemon paired with that of bergamot. To this extreme freshness is added honeysuckle, which brings sweet floral notes here, but also very vegetal ones. The heart then evolves toward floral and green tonalities, though slightly sophisticated, as it combines jasmine, ylang-ylang, narcissus and hyacinth. Jasmine gives off a very floral, opulent and imposing scent, highly prized by perfumers. Ylang-ylang also offers a heady scent, but a rather green and powdery one. Narcissus, for its part, gives off a subtle and unprecedented scent. Very floral, narcissus also offers ultra-green tonalities. Finally, hyacinth is a mute flower, olfactorily reproduced in laboratories. It gives off freshness and lightness. Lastly, the base of Cristalle is deep and elegant, combining oakmoss and vetiver, generally used in men's perfumery.
