Tom Ford's highly luxurious bottle
The fragrance Costa Azzurra makes no secret of its place in the luxury market. Indeed, this is noticeable from the very sight of its bottle. It takes a cylindrical shape and is crafted down to the smallest detail. Its glass walls are finely ridged, as is its cap. Within the transparency of its walls is reflected a golden juice, evoking luxury and sunlight, itself echoed by a cap of the same hue, as well as by a golden label bearing the names Tom Ford and Costa Azzurra in relief. While this bottle is new, it clearly recalls the appearance of the previous Black Orchid, whether through its gold hue or its many ridges. Costa Azzurra seems to carry within its heart all the sun-kissed power paired with unquestionable elegance.
Costa Azzurra's surprising and unusual composition
In terms of composition, with Costa Azzurra, Tom Ford chose not to go for simplicity. Thus, this fragrance contains numerous ingredients rarely used in fragrances. It opens with a very refreshing lemon note. So far, nothing too surprising. However, the freshness of this citrus blends with an immediately more woody breath. Myrtle lends it an aromatic, resinous scent, as though straight from the garrigue, while combining with juniper berry, more spicy and peppery. At its heart, the resinous sensation continues, growing ever more woody. Mastic is combined with cypress as well as oak. Finally, still to recall its Mediterranean origins, Costa Azzurra closes on a cistus accord, a raw material derived from a shrub growing in coastal regions, more precisely in the Mediterranean gulf.
With this fragrance, Tom Ford offers us a true escape. While relying on ingredients rarely used in fragrances, he paints for us a landscape made of blue, sand dunes and sunshine. Costa Azzurra is crafted like rays of sunshine on damp skin. It depicts for us an atmosphere as relaxed as it is refined.
