L'Eau d'Armoise

Serge Lutens does not care what people think and strives above all to please himself. This is why he decided to work in total autonomy and create his own scent laboratory. After working for the greatest luxury houses, he finally decided to found his own house, in order to let his overflowing imagination speak. Thus, year after year, Serge Lutens never ceases to surprise. Once again, 2019 promises to be rich in emotions. Serge Lutens has just announced the release of a new Eau de Politesse, this time named L'Eau d'Armoise.

Focus on the Eaux de Politesse collection

Very often, at Serge Lutens, new creations join scent collections that already exist. Thus, L'Eau d'Armoise is no exception to the rule and is part of the Eaux de Politesse. This olfactory assortment came into being a few years ago and already comprises six different perfumes: L'Eau d'Armoise, Santal Blanc, Fleurs de Citronnier, Gris Clair, L'Eau froide and L'Eau de Paille. All of them are presented in a shared bottle, a sort of sturdy glass cube, sculpted like a jewel, and topped with a crystal swirl. The message could not be clearer: the Eaux de Politesse are infinitely luxurious essences! Each one highlights a very particular ingredient with a scarcely common odor. What is more, the Eaux de Politesse do not stop there and also champion the enhancement of purity. It all came together when Serge Lutens spoke these words in 2010: Luxury begins with cleanliness. Drawing on this statement, he decided to design an assortment of perfumes, each more airy and fresh than the last, as if stripped of the superfluous and of any heady quality. The Eaux de Politesse allow one to smell good quite naturally, without ever overdoing it. Yet, with their unexpected ingredients, they raise just as many questions…

L'Eau d'Armoise, an aromatic ingredient as the central element

Even though Serge Lutens does not tend to reveal his recipes, it is easy to believe that this perfume is built mainly around wormwood… Thus, L'Eau d'Armoise is an aromatic essence intended equally for men and women. The very particular scent of this plant is placed here in the foreground. Wormwood is also enhanced by other ingredients set further back. The result is a herbaceous, slightly bitter essence, whose scent is almost reminiscent of thuja. L'Eau d'Armoise can appear by turns demure or spirited, as suggested by the quotation given by Serge Lutens and attached to this perfume: Rise or fade away, everything in its own time.
