Sidonie Lancesseur

While perfumery is very often passed down from generation to generation, this profession can also become a calling following an encounter or a significant event in the creator's life. Such was the case for Sidonie Lancesseur. Although nothing about her background seemed to destine her to become a perfumer, she is today among the most recognized creators on the planet. So how did she manage to rise to the very top of her art? What are her finest compositions? And above all, where does such a source of inspiration come from?

Sidonie Lancesseur's career

Sidonie Lancesseur does not come from a family of perfumers and did not express, from an early age, a desire to pursue this profession. However, during her studies, she completed a summer internship in Grasse at the renowned company Robertet, one of the world leaders in the making of aromas. That was all it took for Sidonie Lancesseur to become convinced that she had just found her calling. Thus, after scientific studies, she joined the most prestigious perfumery school on the planet: ISIPCA in Versailles. Once she graduated from this institution, Sidonie Lancesseur returned to the company that had sparked her passion for scents: Robertet. She was hired by this company in 2004 as an assistant perfumer. There, she met the one who would become her mentor: Michel Almairac. Alongside him, she learned a great deal and considerably refined her technique. After two years of apprenticeship, Sidonie Lancesseur in turn became a perfumer. Since that day, she has already crafted great perfumes. Furthermore, Sidonie Lancesseur is renowned for the elegance and natural authenticity of her creations. However, Sidonie Lancesseur currently prefers to stay well away from overly commercial perfumes. She favors more understated fragrances intended for niche perfumery. We also owe her Straight to Heaven by By Kilian as well as Cruel Intentions.

Sidonie Lancesseur's inspiration

Sidonie Lancesseur has retained all of Michel Almairac's love for short formulas. Thus, she does not tend to craft fragrances laden with the superfluous. She strives to create perfumes that correspond to people, places or happy moments that she keeps in memory. For her, perfumery serves to give shape to her emotions and memories. Above all, it is synonymous with authenticity and curiosity. Throughout her compositions, Sidonie Lancesseur has accustomed us to often incorporating woody facets. Indeed, she says she appreciates above all the scent of patchouli as well as that of vetiver. However, not without femininity and sensitivity, Sidonie Lancesseur also loves the scent of rose. While Sidonie Lancesseur states that she wants to keep collaborating with niche brands such as By Kilian, the creator also expresses the desire to create bespoke perfumes for ever more prestigious clients. To be continued... We shall see whether her destiny leads her toward the highest spheres of perfumery.
