Vibrato

Vibrato is a unisex eau de parfum from Sospiro’s Classica collection, a house that names its perfumes after the vocabulary of music and opera. The house calls it citrus and powdery: grapefruit, bergamot, mandarin, ginger and rosemary, magnolia and Damask rose over blond woods, and a base of vetiver, patchouli, sandalwood, musk, amber and tonka.

The house spreads the materials over three tiers. The top brings together grapefruit, bergamot, mandarin, ginger and rosemary; the heart, magnolia, Damask rose and blond woods; the base, vetiver, patchouli, Indian sandalwood, musk, a so-called crystal amber and tonka bean.

Sospiro sums up the whole with a compound word, powdery and citrus. For the house, top, heart and base serve as the movements of a score: an entrance, a development, a resolution.

A different description at launch

When the perfume came out, the house described a different arrangement: at the top, magnolia and jasmine, lifted by bergamot and grapefruit; in the middle, ginger, powdery notes and a fresh herbal accent; at the base, a woody, slightly spicy blend of cedar, amber, musk, patchouli and iris.

Jasmine, cedar and iris no longer appear among the materials declared today, which now include mandarin, rosemary, Damask rose, blond woods, vetiver, sandalwood and tonka. Nothing indicates whether the formula changed or the description was simply rewritten.

What the label declares

The label declares limonene, linalool, coumarin, citral, geraniol, eugenol, citronellol, isoeugenol and amyl cinnamal, the allergens that European law requires to be named. The formula contains no colorant and no UV filter.
